Woodstock resides at the base of the mid Catskill mountain region, about 10 miles northwest of Kingston and approx. 100 miles north of NYC. Known for its arts community, Woodstock was home to many Hudson River School painters in the late 1800’s. Views of the Catskill Mountains and scenic rural vistas abound as you travel to and from this fun and magical town. In the village center and peripheral areas you can find great shopping, music and theatre venues and world class restaurants. Known for a series of music events in the 70’s featuring artists such as Richie Havens and Van Morrison, Woodstock was to be the site of the original music festival which actually took place in Bethel NY. If outdoor activities are your thing, some of the best hiking trails in the Catskills are just minutes away. Today Woodstock is a tourist destination and desirable location for second.
